Project Hope

What Is Project Hope

Project Hope is an initiative started by Dr. Jaya Ravindran, a 47-year-old retired arthritis doctor.

Jaya was diagnosed with acute T cell lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukaemia in October 2014 and after treatment including chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, he has suffered two relapses. It was after, this last relapse that Project Hope was born.

An initiative was started to raise funds for those fighting a similar battle by donating some of the proceeds of Jaya’s book of poems to a blood cancer research charity – Bloodwise and towards bone marrow transplant charity – the Anthony Nolan trust, and some towards his daughter’s future.

Our Role

Rt7 Digital’s MD Thoby Solheim is a long-time friend of Dr Jaya Ravindran who was diagnosed with T cell lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukaemia. Since their early highschool days, the two were inseperable until Thoby took the move to South Africa.

They had lost touch for many years until April of 2017. Dr Jaya’s wife contacted Thoby and informed him of his friends condition and immediately sprung him into action.

Rt7 Digital put their inhouse designed to work who designed a beautiful website (jayaravindran.com) in order to house everything there is to know about Project Hope and a few poems written by Dr Jaya. The social media team put together a Facebook page to share updates as they happened and a Youtube channel for Dr Jaya to read and elaborate on his poems.

After setting up the website, we set up a justgiving campaign in order to raise the required funds which would go to charity and part to his daughters future.

Dr Jaya had always had a dream of getting his poems published which resulted in a book of over 30 poems. Later in 2017, we got the book published and distributed to all those who donated towards Project Hope and causes they stand for.

Up to date, the campaign has raised over £24000.
