Amazon FBA Shipment Temporarily Disabled

Amazon support has reached out to notify all FBA sellers that shipments will be temporarily disabled for the UK, US and Europe until 5th April 2020.

Not Able To Create An Amazon FBA Shipment?

Quote from Amazon:

“We are seeing increased online shopping and as a result, some products such as household staples and medical supplies are out of stock. With this in mind, we are temporarily prioritizing household staples, medical supplies and other important products coming into our fulfilment centres so we can more quickly receive, restock and ship these products to customers.

For products other than these, we have temporarily disabled shipment creation. We are taking a similar approach to our own Retail products”

Implications For FBA Seller

Up until the 5th April any Seller Central (FBA) sellers will not be able to restock items outside of the ‘Medical Supplies’ and ‘Household Staples’ categories.

The increased demand has resulted in Amazon’s fulfilment centres not being able to manage the workload required, resulting in 100,000 new job openings in the US.

What Can You Do About This?

If your stock levels are unlikely to carry you through the next three weeks, we recommend you start to explore a switch to Merchant fulfilled which will allow you to sell directly from your own warehouse. This would mean, having to fulfil shipments yourself.

You will need to partner with a delivery service, such as DPD. All orders will then be met directly by your warehouse rather than Amazon FBA,

The April 5th guideline could be pushed back, so it is essential that you look to make these key decisions now.
